Chongqing - On December 18, Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, visited the recipients of the 2024 " Touching Chongqing: Ten Outstanding Figuresaward. "The Desert "Soilization" research team from CQJTU was among the honorees. Municipal leaders Jiang Hui and Liu Shangjin, along with officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and representatives of relevant municipal media outlets, also attended the event.

Yuan Jiajun stated that in April this year, president Xi Jinping visited Chongqing and entrusted the city with two major roles: to become an important strategic fulcrum for the development of western China in the new era, and a comprehensive hub for inland opening-up. These roles define Chongqing’s position in the broader process of Chinese path to modernization and serve as guiding coordinates for its new journey on the path of development.
At present, Chongqing is earnestly studying and implementing the principles of Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, deepening the implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speeches and instructions, striving to boost the economy and pursue development, and vigorously advancing spiritual civilization construction - all of which have yielded significant achievements.
Among this year’s “Touching Chongqing: Ten Outstanding Figures” are veteran Party members who have stayed true to the original aspiration - to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, dedicated scientists working tirelessly to contribute to society, resilient and ambitious young representatives, as well as ordinary citizens who have performed acts of great kindness. They all share a deep love for the Party, the country, and their hometown. They are rooted in their positions, act with a strong sense of duty and dedication, show resilience and selflessness, and exemplify noble virtues and great love. Through their actions, they bring warmth and positive energy to society.

Yuan Jiajun expressed hope that the award recipients would cherish the honor, serve as role models, and lead the continuous progress of spiritual civilization in Chongqing. He encouraged them to be advocates of love for the Party, the country, and their hometown, embracing the mission to serve the nation, boldly facing challenges, and enthusiastically participating in the vibrant practice of Chinese-style modernization.
He also urged them to embody the core socialist values, inspiring others and filling society with love and warmth. Furthermore, he called on them to contribute actively to the greater good with a spirit of dedication and action, working steadily, facing challenges head-on, and jointly promoting the stable and far-reaching development of a modernized new Chongqing.
Yuan Jiajun emphasized that Party committees and governments at all levels should show care and support for these outstanding individuals, implement incentive and support policies, strengthen publicity efforts, and improve the role model selection mechanism to inspire more people to pursue touching deeds and become figures who move Chongqing. This will help gather strong spiritual strength for writing the Chongqing chapter of Chinese-style modernization.
