The work deployment meeting for the Chongqing division of the 2024 China International College Students Innovation Competition, along with the launch ceremony of the “Youth Red Dream-Building Journey” was held at Ganen Square in Zhongyi Township, Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, on June 24. The event brought together senior members and scholars from Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, People’s Government of the County and numerous universities and educational institutions in Chongqing. Over 200 teachers and students attended, participating in a “Red Journey” themed lecture, sharing their “Red Journey” experiences, reciting their vows, and marking the beginning of the “Red Journey.”
As a participant in the competition, Chongqing Jiaotong University(CQJTU) attended the meeting to offer insights and share experiences related to sustainable development and rural revitalization.
Representatives from the university’s Office of Academic Affairs, the Ecological Environment Research Center, the Future Technology Institute of Ecological Mechanics, the School of Civil Engineering, and other relevant departments participated in the event.
Jiang Yunfang, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Education Working Committee and deputy director of the Municipal Education Commission, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to integrating innovation education into talent cultivation. She highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen innovation-driven education reforms, guided by the Competition, with the goal of encouraging students to explore revolutionary base areas, underdeveloped regions, and urban-rural communities. Jiang urged students to “dare to innovate and excel in innovation,” inspiring them to carry forward the revolutionary spirit, and apply their professional knowledge and innovative achievements to meet real-world needs with precision.

He Dehua, deputy county governor of Shizhu County, stated that this event serves not only as a vital platform for young people to engage in innovative practices and pursue their dreams, but also as a valuable opportunity for the County to strengthen university-local collaboration and promote rural revitalization.
Wang Xiangsheng, Party branch secretary of Huaxi Village in Zhongyi Township, shared the story of leading a village out of poverty. Zeng Lingxiang, a Party member and professor at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, delivered an inspiring ideological lecture on “empowering rural revitalization through art.”
Project teams from CQJTU, Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering, and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute shared their “Red Journey” experiences in three key areas: promoting ecological civilization, advancing rural revitalization, and supporting employment for special-needs groups. Their presentations showcased the innovation, wisdom and dynamism of students in entrepreneurship and social impact.

During the Red Journey experience-sharing session, Nie Qixia, the student representative of CQJTU’s “Desert Soilization” research team, delivered a presentation titled “Using Sand as a Medium.” Nie shared her team’s exploratory journey in green technology innovation and eco-industrial development through “desert soilization” technology, recounting their inspiring efforts to restore deserts, Gobi regions, remote islands, and mining areas across the country. The team’s work has contributed to ecological improvement, rural revitalization, and the promotion of ethnic unity and progress.
The event concluded with a poetic recital by a representative from Chongqing University.

After the event, Zhang Ming, along with faculty and student representatives, visited Zhongyi Primary School and the “Chuxin(meaning ‘original inspiration’) Courtyard”, retracing the history of the Red Journey and immersing themselves in the influence of revolutionary culture.
