  Following multiple rounds of rigorous expert inspection and evaluation, the Engineering Research Center of Eco-Mechanical Desertification Control and Ecosystem Carbon Sink of Chongqing Jiaotong University (the Center), finally received official approval from the Ministry of Education, marking a significant development milestone for the university. Among the newly approved Engineering Research Centers in the year 2022, it is the sole Ministry of Education-level research platform awarded to a university in Chongqing.

The Center is dedicated to addressing the global challenges in desertification control, ecological restoration, and carbon sink, covering four key areas:

Mechanics of Eco-friendly Materials and Field Applications

Mechanics of Ecosystem Cycles and Carbon Sink Process

Mechanics of Ecological Environment and Microclimate Effect

Mechanics of Ecological Restoration and Carbon Sink Technology

Based on the above eco-mechanical research, the Center aims to promote the commercialization of the green technologies.

The establishment of the Center will provide the following benefits: raising the university’s scientific and technological innovation level, accelerating the fulfillment of CQJTU’s 14th Five-Year Plan for scientific research, promoting the green transformation of traditional transportation-related disciplines, advancing the development of the interdisciplinary orientation in ecological mechanics, and cultivating interdisciplinary talent. Ultimately, these efforts will support high-quality economic and social development, showcasing the contributions of CQJTU.
