On the afternoon of January 9, 2024, Gong Hui, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Jiaotong University (CQJTU) committee, led a delegation to visit the Ecological Environment Research Center (the Center). Following the visit, Gong Hui chaired a symposium in the International Conference Room of the Mingde Building on the university’s Nan’an Campus. The symposium was attended by Deputy Party Secretary Zheng Xuxu, a couple of representatives from various departments of the university, and all the staff from the Center.

During the symposium, Professor Ma Yinhua, Deputy Director of the Center, delivered a detailed report on the development of the Center covering the research domains, preliminary work, key priorities, and major achievements. He highlighted the Center’s strategic focus, encompassing discipline-based professional development, talent cultivation, scientific research, platform construction, technology commercialization, social services, and international exchange and collaboration. Concluding his presentation, he outlined a vision for the Center’s development over the next three years.

Professor Yi Zhijian, Chief Scientist of the Center, provided an overview of the Center’s progress and key achievements, as well as the current challenges. He noted that the Center has achieved groundbreaking theoretical advancement and remains deeply committed to further scientific research. Looking ahead, Professor Yi outlined a plan to further develop the desert soilization project, strengthen talent development and research team building, and foster the interdisciplinary research.

All attendees were actively engaged in the discussion on the challenges confronting the Center and the efforts needed to achieve sustainable development.
